Dawn of the Samurai is a new campaign for the game Total War: SHOGUN 2. This campaign recreates the events that took place 400 years before the civil war, which is the basis of the plot of SHOGUN 2. Dawn of the Samurai tells about the Gempei War - a conflict between the six houses of the Taira, Minamoto clans and Fujiwara, who led to the formation of the first shogunate and the establishment of the samurai as the ruling class.

• Play the new campaign for SHOGUN 2, set in 12th century Japan. The Dawn of the Samurai campaign is designed for both single player and collective modes - against each other or together. • The campaign introduces 3 new families consisting of 6 houses. Each house has its own characteristics that determine the style of play. • The game introduces 16 new types of ground troops - swordsmen, archers, spearmen and cavalry. • There are 4 heroes in the game - sohei with naginata, sohei with tetsubo, mounted samurai and onna-bugeisha. Onna-bugeisha are bow-wielding, naginata-wielding horsewomen who are deadly in close combat. Never underestimate women... Sohei and tetsubo are huge clubs studded with steel spikes that become deadly weapons in the hands of fierce warrior monks. • The game introduces 10 new types of ships with 3 new abilities (“Banzai!”, “Whistling Arrows” and “Gathering Troops”). • The game contains 4 new agents with unique development of abilities:

Shirabyoshi - whose main talent is seduction. Such a lovely dancer can convince anyone to come over to your side. In addition, shirabyoshi can entertain nobles, increasing the growth rate of allied cities. Shirabyoshi are also capable of dancing for friendly warlords on the battlefield, increasing their loyalty while lowering the morale of enemy troops.
Minzoku are spies who can scout into enemy provinces and weaken enemy armies by killing enemy generals.
Metsuke are assassins who can kill enemy generals and agents.
Hatamoto are the heads of military garrisons that can increase the defense and stability of your cities and castles.

• The game features new battle maps that reflect Japanese nature and architecture.
