The events of the game take place in 2008, when there is a power outage, sabotage and hacking of security systems as part of the information war. Operatives must infiltrate an enemy base and capture vital intelligence while staying in extremely close contact with the enemy. The player plays as Sam Fisher, a top elite NSA agent who uses a variety of assassination methods such as close quarters combat, shooting with the prototype Earthfighter assault rifle, and special assassination techniques including neck snapping. Co-op missions are also available where teamwork is key to success.
